Abstract:

Urban green space system is an important component of urban living environment. It can provide ecological functions such as protecting the ecological environment, maintaining biodiversity, providing public leisure and entertainment sites, reducing or avoiding natural disasters, etc. Whether the urban green space system is reasonably designed directly determines the quality of its construction. How to optimize the structure of green space system based on the characteristics of the city itself is crucial. The present paper takes Xuchang of Henan Province, China as an example and performs an urban green space system planning for Xuchang to meet the pre-determined construction goals by drawing on advanced planning models and concepts, under the premise of protecting and utilizing the natural, historical and cultural resources of the city. The result shows that the urban green space system of Xuchang has the following features: the green rings surround the city, with interconnecting green belts; the city is interlaced with green wedges and decorated by green patches Particularly, the green rings are composed of agricultural lands and forest lands, providing high-quality and fresh agricultural products and protecting the ecological environment; the green belts are made of green belts along the rivers, roads and green isolation belts, by which the rivers, parks, plazas, communities and cultural activity places are connected and the places that might affect the urban environment are isolated; the green wedges are suburban parks of various kinds, which introduce natural environment to urban space so that city residents can get into contact with nature; green patches are green spaces in the parks, which provide open space for the residents living within a certain radius; green cores are several large-scale urban green spaces, whose aim is to improve the ecological environment of the city and to provide leisure and entertainment places for the residents. The urban green space system can provide a good ecological environment and leisure and entertainment places for Xuchang City and facilitate the sound urban development.
