Abstract:

The present work aimed to research the water consumption of peach tree ‘Granada’ with the rootstock A9, determining the evapotranspiration of this cultivar at the initial stage of development relating it with the reference evapotranspiration (ETo) in the south of Parana. The experiment was performed in the experimental area of the Federal Technology University of Parana, Campus of Dois Vizinhos, in the Research and Education Unit of Horticulture (UNEP). The seedlings were acquired at the Nursery Clone at Araucaria city – Brazil, and transplanted to plastic pots (lysimeters) at October 2, 2009. The pots, with physical capacity of 50 dm-3, 35 cm of diameter and 54 cm of height, were filled with a mix of Rhodic Eutrudox soil, medium sand and commercial organic substrate (Mecplant ®) in the respective proportions of volume 50, 25 and 25%. The irrigation was performed daily according to the water consumption of the plants, keeping the soil permanently in the field capacity. For the gathering of the excess irrigation water a tray with a hole in the center was used, connected by a hose to one storage for the daily quantifications of water consumption of the culture at the initial stage of development until 222 days after the transplantation (DAT). The analyzed variables were leaf area, reference evapotranspiration (ETo), water consumption and culture coefficient (Kc). The results allowed us to conclude that the mean reference evapotranspiration of the initial development of the peach tree ‘Granada’ with the rootstock A9 was 5.1 mm day-1, with a mean water consumption of 0.969 mm and a mean culture coefficient of 0.19.
