Abstract:

Film-furrow irrigation is a combination of techniques of film-mulching irrigation and furrow irrigation. Film with infiltrating holes is covered in furrows and irrigation water flows on it and infiltrates to the soil. The movement and distribution rules of soil water under film-furrow irrigation conditions play an important role in the research on the impact of water-saving irrigation on farmland environment. Both the relations between wetted width and wetted depth and infiltration time and the rules of water distribution in wetted soil body are investigated in this paper. An infiltration tester for film-furrow irrigation was developed, an experiment with 2-row and 3-column holes was conducted, and dynamic changes of wetted soil body  at different shape were observed. According to dye tracer selection and model calibration, we adopted dye infiltration to observe soil water, and soil water content contour diagrams of every layer after infiltrating 150 min were obtained. The results showed that first, the relations between both wetted width and wetted depth and infiltration time of film-furrow irrigation could  be fitted with a power function. Second, it is feasible to observe soil water distribution by dye infiltration, which overcomes the difficulty in 3-D infiltration observation. Third, the soil water movement and distribution of film-furrow irrigation have obvious regularity. The uniformity of soil water distribution in the horizontal direction increases with depth, and the uniformity of spatial water distribution increases with infiltration time.
