Influence of bio and mineral nitrogen fertilizers on productivity of some bread wheat varieties

Abstract:This study was conducted to determine the effect of five bio and mineral nitrogen fertilizer levels (Control, 37.5kg N/fed, 75kg N/fed, 37.5kg N/fed+Inoc. and 75 kg N/fed+Inoc.) on yield, yield components and chemical properties of three bread wheat varieties (Sids12, Misr2 and Gemmaza 11) during 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 seasons. Results showed that Gemmeiza 11 variety gave the highest values of plant height, spike length, No. of spikelets spike-1, No. of grains spike-1, grain weight spike-1, grain index, grain yield fed-1, straw yield fed-1, N and protein% in grains, protein yield fed-1 and carbohydrate yield fed-1 in both seasons. Plant height, No. of spikes m-2, spike length, No. of spikelets spike-1, No. of grains spike-1, grains weight spike, grain index, grain yield fed-1, straw yield fed-1, N and protein% in grains, protein yield fed-1 and carbohydrate yield fed-1 increased significantly by increasing N mineral fertilizer levels and bio-inoculation, whereas carbohydrate% decreased by increasing N mineral fertilizer levels and bio-inoculation in both seasons. Significant effect of interaction between bread wheat varieties and bio and mineral nitrogen fertilizers was obtained for plant height, No. of spikes m-2 and grain weight spike-1 in the first season only. Plant height, No. of spikes m-2, spike length, No. spikelets spike-1, No. of grains spike-1, grain weight spike-1, grain index and straw yield fed-1 were highly significantly correlated with grain yield fed-1. Generally, it can be concluded that sowing Gemmeiza 11 variety combined with 75 kg/fed+Inoculation or 37.5 kg/fed + Inoculation is the recommended treatment to improve the productivity of wheat crop under the study conditions.
