Abstract:

In consideration of characteristics of electro-kinetic dehydration methods, this article combines electro-kinetic methods with vacuum osmotic dehydration and tamping densification technologies, designing a new method for water plant sludge solidification. Laboratory experiments were carried out in order to estimate the effectiveness of this electro-osmotic dehydration and tamping densification treatment scheme. Through the analysis of testing results, this method can ameliorate the sludge properties in a great extent that decreased sludge moisture content from 76.3% to 26.9%~31.5% and producing 62.8~89.2 kPa strength in extension of depth, which will meet the requirement of most embanking projects, in 72 hours. More tests were conducted trying to find an optimal current density supplying along the test for ensuring electro-osmotic efficiency and conserving energy consumption that control current density around 35 A/m2 would be a best choice for the sample sludge. Energy consumption calculation and economical comparisons to other existing methods were carried out, identifying considerable application value of the new method.
