Abstract:

A novel strain of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens IMAUB1034 was isolated from naturally fermented congee of Inner Mongolia, China. It had a strong inhibitory ability against the air-borne plant pathogenic fungus Botrytis cinerea. Its cell-free culture filtrate can also inhibit the growth of Alternaria solani, Phytophthora drechsleri Tucker, Fusarium oxysporum and Glomerella cingulata. The effect of pH, temperature, and protease on the antifungal activity of IMAUB1034 was determined: the antifungal substance was heat stable, the antifungal activity can exist between pH 2.0 and pH 10.0, and the enzymatic treatment of supernatant with trypsin, neutral protease and proteinase K revealed that the antifungal activity was often lost when treated by proteinase K and trypsin, but was stable when treated by neutral protease. In a greenhouse test, the biocontrol effect of atomization was 43.14% and the treatment of root-irrigation also had a particular effect. The molecular weight of antifungal material was 1035D. The result of 1H NMR and 13C NMR revealed that the material was an analogue of the surfactin.
