Grape distribution efficiency in wholesale market, Beijing, China

Wholesale market is one of the most important stakeholders in the supply chain of table grapes in China. An evaluation conceptual framework of grape distribution efficiency was established in this paper, which contains logistic efficiency, capital efficiency and information efficiency. Face-to-face interviews with wholesalers were conducted in seven grape wholesale markets of Beijing to acquire basic data. Factor analysis method was employed to evaluate grape distribution efficiency of different wholesale markets. The results indicate Xinfadi shows higher distribution efficiency than other wholesale markets in Beijing. The study also proves that grape distribution efficiency is highly influenced by wholesalers’ business experience and integration condition of wholesale markets.
