Abstract:

Food safety is a worldwide issue, but in China it is discussed more widely with higher frequency. The safety risks caused by the new food technology are of great safety concern and will continue to be the focus of many stakeholders in Chinese community and overseas. The safety risks of new food technology have complicated background. Every technological and scientific innovation caters to the needs of practice and development, which facilitates the social progress and changes people’s way of living. New food technology is no exception. Generally, new food technology was generated and developed by the changes in the environment along with the market demands, including consumers’ new demands, life style changing, new demands of producers and environmental changes. In China, the limitation in the technology and system indicates the potential safety risks of the new food technology. The ethical defects further enlarge the safety risks of new food technology in China. If we take any measures of parts, it is hardly for Chinese government to find the effective solution in the end. Only taking technology, law, management, and social factors as a whole series, effective measures and solutions shall be forged, which are the main pathways to effectively lowering and solving the new food technology safety risks in China.
